Meet Our Pizza Chef

To this day, chef Dean Cotroneo hasn't stopped baking pizza since he was 17 years old. Hatboro will soon be able to taste the difference! Abington native Dean is a trained chef who attended the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He is a Montco native. Dino's Pizza of Warminster was named "Best Stromboli in USA Today" and "5th Best Pizzeria in PA" by Yelp after he operated Frank's Pizza in Elkins Park for 12 years. He's now operating out of The Steel Penny Cafe in New York City. What exactly is Dean hoping to achieve by the end of this? "To make the best Detroit-style pizza I've ever tasted and to share this pizza with as many people as we can," is the only reason for this endeavor. We can't wait to introduce you to this brand-new item on our cafe's menu! Steel Penney Cafe 451A Oakdale Ave Hatboro, PA 19040 (215) 346-7500 pizza best pizza nearby

Pizzaria in Hatboro - You'll Love It!

We make our crusts from scratch and season them with sea salt and olive oil to make them tastier (and healthier). Each gourmet masterpiece is topped with 100 percent Wisconsin mozzarella, freshly shredded in-house, and baked to delicious, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Chef Dean goes the extra mile - Steel Penny Cafe's Detroit Style Pizza dough is put through a 72-hour fermentation process, so quantities are limited. We serve these motor-city style pizza pies from Thurs – Sun and take preorders online - click the Order Online link and choose a date up to one week in advance between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Dean's List members get priority, so we recommend joining! Gourmet pizza necessitates the use of high-quality ingredients and a strong commitment to the art and craft of pizza baking. We top our handcrafted pizzas with generous portions of lean meats, fresh vegetables, and your choice of fresh toppings. It is unnecessary to let pizza dough rise in the refrigerator overnight - or...

Welcome to Steel Penny Cafe - Best Pizza in town!

Steel Penny Cafe is a one-of-a-kind cafe, just like the 1943 coin. Inspired by recycling, Sullivan's Scrap Metals, and repurposing, here's everything you need to know about the steel penny. It's story time... Steel pennies were only produced for one year, 1943. There was a scarcity of brass and bronze because they used the metals, including copper (found in brass/bronze), to make artillery shells during the war. They needed to make the penny despite the scarcity. They used recycled steel, but there were issues. They became rusted. They are magnetic (and tended to get stuck in vending machines). As a result, the mint recalled about 10 million of them to melt. Some are still in limited supply today. Our name is almost as unique as our cozy coffee shop, which features hanging lights, funky antiques, and a lot of LOVE for all things that keep us caffeinated using La Colombe coffee. Come check us out or order delivery in Hatboro – our hometown!  Our location: Steel Penny Cafe 45...
